Honest: Friendship Quilt Along

Have you been playing along with Amanda Herring’s Friendship Quilt Along? We’re already on week 5!

This week’s block is called “Honest” and it’s honestly adorable.  I’ve chosen to use the fabric from my latest collection, With a Twist (Shipping in September from Hoffman Fabrics).

I put mine together a tiny bit differently than Amanda by saving the corner triangles for last. But, more about that later.

Once the pieces are all cut, it’s a pretty quick process to put together. Most people are familiar with the Clearly Perfect Angles for sewing 45 degree angles, but did you know it’s a wonderful seam guide?

Make sure to follow Amanda’s suggestion to press your seams in opposing directions so that the rows nest together nicely.

Now, back to adding those corner triangles.  After the rows are together, you need to center the triangles.  I did this by lightly pressing the triangles in half and also finding the centers of the blocks by pressing that area.

All that needs to be done now is to match the creases and stitch.

Repeat two more times and you’ll have all three done!

Today’s topic: honesty….I need to be honest and say that life got very busy this last month and I’ve been playing catch-up with the quilt along.  I did get last week’s done, though…  🙂

Don’t forget to follow along on social media to see all the blocks made:  #friendshipqal and #hellolovelyqal

Until next time, Friends!
