Another branch of New Leaf Stitches

New Blog Launch…finally

For those of you who followed along for the Quiltmaker’s 100 Block tour, you remember the horror story with my blog hosting company.   Well,  today’s a new day!  I’ve switched over to  WordPress and I’m going to give this blogging thingy a new try.  Wish me luck!

Oh, for those of you looking for older posts, I am slowly, but surely, switching them over to this new format.

So, let’s start with some big news…

After a long wait (over 3 years!), my patent was finally approved for the Clearly Perfect Angles! Yeah!  I have to admit it was kind of fun to open the envelope and see the signed, sealed and delivered document.  And here is something interesting… to me anyway…the patent was issued the same day my new granddaughter was born!

Clearly Perfect Angles Patent

I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t even do a blog about my trip to market, but it probably should get a little mention.

I was able to hang out in the Martingale booth doing demos on my last book, Just around the Corner. I always have a good time with those gals!  I feel very blessed to be associated with such a great company!

“Just around the Corner” Demo

While in Kansas City we took a little side trip to Liberty, MO.  I just fell in love with a shop called AMERICAN! Whatever housed in Corbin Mills. The wools there were to die for!  There is no doubt in my mind that I am going to make a special trip back there and take a rug hooking class.

Great textures and colors in my new wool. Lovin’ it.

Here is a look at my last edit of my new book, Twice as Nice. I was really happy with the styling of the quilts…sorry, can’t share just yet!  The next time I see it it will be the real deal…can’t wait until December!

Final edit: “Twice as Nice”

By the way, have you noticed Martingale’s new logo??

Isn’t it important to try your hand at something new?  Well, I am in a sewing group (The Bent Needles) and have been learning to do needle turn applique.  What I’ve discovered is…it takes patience & practice, and I really like working with silk thread!  Who knew there could be such a difference in threads for hand applique?!?!

Latest needle turn & my growing collection of silk threads.

What else is new?…I’ve been enjoying my newest granddaughter!  Ava Marie.

Ava Marie

I had a good time making a few little things for her.

Onesie dress and shoes

Of course, big sister needed a new dress too.

She loved the big pockets…great twirling dress.

Covered buttons in the back.

With the left-over fabric scraps I made Ava a little tutu.

Just elastic band and fabric strips!

love, Love, LOVE  being Grandma!

Okay, so I digress from my business blog.

Later this week I will be traveling to Iowa.  I have been looking forward to teaching at the Iowa State Guild’s retreat.  I will be staying a few extra days and teaching and presenting at the Altoona guild too.  If you are in the area, be sure to stop by!

Here’s what I would like to do…Because I need to test this new blog’s comment capabilities and because the patent for the Clearly Perfect Angles is a reality, I’m going to do a drawing and give away 3 Clearly Perfect Angles. (By the way…there is a sale going on too). Please help me with this test run and leave a comment!   I will leave the comments open until I get back from Iowa.  So…leave a comment and hopefully you will win one!

I love quilts with half square triangles in them. however i’m still doing them the old fashioned way by drawing lines. I would love to win one of your treasures. Welcome to Iowa from an Iowa girl…. hope they treat you like a queen while you are here. I am not part of the Iowa guild but it does look something to consider in the future. janita
