Another branch of New Leaf Stitches

Happy Dancing!

It’s been a fun couple of weeks!  Twinkle toes I’m not, but I sure have done a few happy dances!

First of all, I am so happy and excited to announce that I am now part of the BERNINA Artisan family!!  I truly consider it an honor to be able to represent and use these awesome machines!  Watch for more details.  And yes…I literally did do a little jig.

Next came the new issue of Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting with a little wool project I made called “Autumn Gems”.

Love of Quilting: Sept/Oct 2012

My project is on the upper right side of the page.  I wanted to do a simple fall wool project and use not so traditional colors.  I hope you like the gem tones.  The cotton fabric is  by Cherrywood Fabrics.

Even in the magazine it is a little hard to see the details, so I am glad that I took some pictures before I sent the project off.

There are a variety of old buttons that are used to embellish the quilt.  I used 6 strands of floss in the buttons for the tendrils.

Notice the two buttons used together at the base of the pumpkin’s stem.

To make the tendrils I dipped the floss in liquid starch and than wrapped them around pencils until they were dry.

Here is a little tease…I was doing Christmas in July with this little project for Quiltmaker’s magazine.  You will just have to wait and watch…

On a personal note, I had a wonderful day last week golfing with my guys.  My husband’s company sponsored us in a tournament that benefits the three burn centers in the Minneapolis area.  It was a large tournament and although we did pretty decent (the three of them were very patient dealing with my handicap) we didn’t win, but Kirby did win the longest drive.  Holy smokes, but my  boys can hit the ball a mile…Kirby’s just happened to land in the fairway when it counted  🙂

I would like to give a little shout-out to one of my winners in the last Clearly Perfect Angles giveway, Janita.  She has a great blog called The Girlfriend Gap.  She has some great ideas, wonderful pictures and darn cute little grand children!  Stop by and take a look.

I’m hoping and wishing for all of you to be doing your own happy dance!!

We will chat again soon,
