Another branch of New Leaf Stitches

Fun Stuff

Busy, busy, busy…and it’s not going to slow down anytime soon.

I just got back from a wonderful time in Ohio.  Checker Distributors held an open house and I was fortunate enough to be invited to be a demonstrator.

Here is a picture of my booth, along with one visiting with a shop owner and her husband about Just around the Corner.  I have to thank Martingale/That Patchwork Place for helping sponsor my trip!

A big thank you goes out to everyone at Checker for their hospitality.  They certainly are a top-notch organization!

I could write a whole blog on the travel nightmare(s) I had getting to and from the event.  All the flights out of the airport were cancelled to Chicago because of weather there.  I couldn’t get anywhere until the next day!  Which meant the open house was in full-swing before I could even get set up (bummer).  The way home was just as bad….Let’s just put it in perspective:  I was scheduled to be home by about 11:00 in the morning.  Once again there were issues in Chicago.  My designer friend, Brenda Henning from Bear Paw Productions,  flew as far as Chicago with me….and she made it to ANCHORAGE before I got home to Minnesota. UGH!!!

Kelly from “I Have a Notion”, was at the open house too, and just wrote a very nice review of the book.  You can check it out here AND she is giving one away so make sure to leave a comment!

While I am talking about blogs I just want to remind you of the virtual book tour being hosted by these wonderful bloggers!

I will continue to travel over the next few months.

September 6h and 7th I will be at the Pella, Iowa guild for their 25th anniversary celebration.  Besides speaking at their dinner I will be teaching the mystery “Our Town” the next day.  I am looking forward to spending time with them!

The following week I will be heading back to Iowa (kinda feeling like a political candidate spending this much time in Iowa).  Back in June I blogged about a project for “Fons and Porter’s Love of Quilting” magazine. There were some major set-backs getting the fabric and they graciously kept extending the deadline.  Well, the fabric showed up and I spent a few long days (and nights) working to get the quilt done.  One of those afternoons the phone rings and the caller id says “Fons and Porters”.  I was dreading answering the phone because I was sure they were calling to inquire about the quilt.  Working up the nerve to answer the phone I was pleasantly SURPISED…I was invited to be a guest host on their PBS TV show, Love of Quilting.   WOW!  Of course I said yes.  The taping will take place on September 14th & you can be sure I will be blogging about that experience.

October brings me to Georgia to teach 5 classes at the Georgia Quilt Show.  Sign-up is going on now….

After that there is a trip to Houston for International Quilt Market.

Sometime in there I need to get busy… the same day I received my first order of books I sent off a contract to do another book with Martingale…YAHOO!  I’m so excited to be working with them again!

I belong to this wonderful, hilarious, creative group of women… the “Woolies”.  They heard (thru a little Chickadee named Faye) that I was asked to do another book.  They gave me this crazy survival kit. See the notebook titled “Big Book of Woolies Wisdom”?  It’s empty!  LOL

Faye has a great blog called “Behind my Picket Fence“.  She wrote a whole blog on this.  Check it out… it will become one of your favorite reads!

Of course, we have seen the family a few times.  In fact, Brian and I had our dear little Kendall stay with us for a few days.  Loved every minute of it!!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the summer.  Kendall loves her Auntie Liz!

We didn’t manage to get in a whole week’s worth of vacation this summer, but we did get away to enjoy a few things.

If you have never gone to an air show…you need to!  This one was in Fargo and was truly thrilling to see what those pilots are capable of doing.

We headed over to Duluth for a few days.  It is such a unique, picturesque town.  A quick trip, but fun!

Of course there is the requisite picture of the lift bridge.

My dear hubby doing (his version) Shakespeare.  Notice Lake Superior in the background… a cool setting for this old stage.

And of course, nature.

Totally random……

One of our sons and his wife just had something unique happen to them too…they were selected for a renovation TV show…they are going to get their bathroom redone…you will just have to stay-tuned to find out how their bizarre master bath turns out!

Before I go, here is a plug for those of you heading to the “Great Minnesota Get-together”, aka: the Minnesota State Fair.  One of my quilt store friends has a booth there.  Make sure to check out Roseann’s booth at Heritage Square.

Take care,
